Finance department manages Council’s finances to ensure compliance with statutory financial and reporting obligations and Council’s long-term financial sustainability. Responsibilities include preparation of the Annual Budget and Long-Term Financial Plan and administration of accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll. Additionally, the department oversees Council’s property and rating database and the annual revaluation of properties, to ensure rate revenue is raised accurately and on time.
The role
We are seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join the Finance team. Reporting to the Team Leader Budgeting and Reporting, Magda Hordejuk. The role of the Accounts payable Officer is to process and administer creditor payments in order to ensure a customer focused service is provided to staff and members of the public that are in contact with the department.
In particular, your role is to:
- Receive, review and prepare invoices in readiness for processing, including ensuring that invoice details are in line with determined requirements.
- Provide guidance to all staff on accounts payable procedures, ensuring that all invoices and payment requests are completed correctly including account costing allocations and that GST requirements are met
- Forward invoices to responsible officers to obtain authority and costing details and monitor the return to ensure timely payment. Where suppliers indicate outstanding accounts follow up invoice authorisation with responsible officers.
- Ensure all ATO requirements through GST are met and follow up with Authorised Officers where invoices submitted do not comply. Report any discrepancies in GST requirements to Responsible Finance Officer.
- Input invoice details into computer system (Technology1 – T1), scan invoice and process through to payment stage.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Accounts Payable tasks in large organisation is preferred
- Experience in known accounting software (Technology One/ T1 experience desired but not mandatory)
- Strong excel, word and numeracy skills
- Finance qualifications desired but not required
- High degree of accuracy and attention to details
- Confidence to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

This is a part-time (3 days a week) fixed term position until 30 June 2025. This is an additional position to an already existing team of 2 Accounts Payable Officers.

The role
We are seeking a Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Health team. Reporting to Team Leader Environmental Health, your role is to:
- Undertaking risk assessments and inspections at registered business and public health related investigations.
- Respond to service requests and complaints from the community on environmental health related matters and after investigating, implement appropriate proactive preventative action so that any hazards are minimised and resolved in accordance with legislation and procedures.
- Perform the duties of an Environmental Health Officer within a geographic area including conducting inspections on registered businesses in accordance with requirements, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Contribute to the direction of Environmental Health Services by actively participating in meetings and coordinating review of systems and processes, ensuring flexible and responsive service delivery, meeting, or exceeding community expectations.
- Coordinate and participate in delivery of identified environmental health promotional activities and projects to increase environmental health awareness.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications as declared by the Secretary Department of Health and Human Services
- Eligibility for EHPA membership and a thorough understanding of all relevant legislation
- Excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to work amongst a diverse team of professionals towards attainment of common goals is essential
- Recent graduates and EHO’s with a wide range of experience are encouraged to apply with experience guiding the pay scale.

The role
We are seeking motivated Front of House Officers to join our dynamic Arts and Culture Services team.
The incumbent will primarily work across Kingston Arts Centre and Kingston City Hall in Moorabbin and Shirley Burke Theatre in Parkdale.
Reporting to the Coordinator Front of House, the Front of House Officer is vital to the presentation and preparation of Arts and Cultural Services facilities. The role is responsible for cleaning of the venues, event set and pack up, ushering, tending bar and providing café and in room catering services where required. The incumbent will be required to interpret event set up plans and have a strong attention to detail.
About you
You will have:
- Proven customer service experience in front line services in Hospitality and/or Arts based environments and a strong attention to detail.
- A working knowledge front-of-house processes, procedures and equipment used in performing arts, exhibition, conference, seminar, meeting and/or function settings.
- Demonstrated experience in bar and/or barista service in a catering/hospitality environment.
- Proven experience in sales, cash handling, reconciling of floats and use of EFTPOS machines.
- Demonstrated experience in communicating with a diverse range of people to develop excellent working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, work independently and as part of a team.
Previous applicants need not re-apply. Successful applicants will be expected to make themselves available for shifts according to a roster over a seven-day period.

This is a casual position and will be required to work evenings, business hours and on weekends as rostered. The position may be required to work across multiple facilities within the Kingston municipality.
