The Information and Strategy Department is currently working on establishing modern technology landscape to support day to day business needs and digital innovation improving customer experience.


About the opportunity


We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Team Leader Business Applications to join the Information Services and Strategy team who will:

As Team Leader, Business Applications, you will lead a team of Analysts and technical specialists who provide support and maintenance for the full lifecycle of a diverse application portfolio, including our property rating and licencing systems and HR and Assets management systems. Following ITIL processes and Agile practices, you will manage your team’s delivery of tasks such as tracking and resolving incidents, conducting root cause analyses, engaging stakeholders and leading new ideas and system that will improve service delivery.


As Team Leader, you will lead by example, setting clear objectives for your team to ensure they are best placed to perform at a high standard – providing mentorship, and embedding an encouraging, growth-oriented work culture by assessing training requirements and providing regular feedback.


In a typical week at work, you may:


  • Manage the software products within your portfolio, overseeing the team to manage critical and routine incidents and service requests.
  • Generate and encourage ideas for new technology and integrations that will enhance the operations of Council and improve customer service.
  • Lead the application lifecycle management for all software products within the Business Application portfolio, planning and conducting application upgrades, ensuring software currency and maintenance.
  • Manage, escalate and resolve support incidents according to service level expectations, using development, testing, and production support tools.
  • Meet with Council and vendors to regularly to keep informed of activity and plan and lead future work projects and system enhancements.


About You


You will be an experienced leader with a passion for collaborative workplace cultures and high-quality service delivery. With deep knowledge of information systems support practices, Agile and ITIL across a wide range of enterprise information systems, you will be curious and eager to continue learning about new technologies and ways of working.


Utilising your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and your excellent organisational and prioritisation skills enable you to oversee, coordinate and drive service and project delivery.


Ideally, you will further have:


  • Significant information systems and supervisory management experience in a complex organisation
  • Understanding of information systems environments, including the functional and non-functional use of these systems
  • Experience in implementing and integrating complex information systems
  • Experienced client and vendor expectation management, service delivery and continuous improvement within best practice frameworks
  • Technical expertise in the administration, management and use of business systems, including Microsoft SQL Server administration, data structuring and data migrations.
  • Experience in support Business Intelligence (Tableau or Power Bi), Geospatial systems and Business Process Management.
